Job Responsibilities allow you to put more detailed qualifications on a job and specify which employees have those qualifications. Then when assigning shifts you can tell which responsibilities/qualifications are required and limit which employees are eligible for that shift. These can be used in a number different ways including to record certifications and skills for specific employees that pertain to specific jobs.
For example if you have a job called Cook but schedule where one shift is working the grill and another the fryer, then Grill and Fryer would be setup as responsibilities on the job and then assigned to whichever employees are qualified to do each of those. Then on the shift in the schedule you can specify it will be for job = Cook and responsibility = Fryer and then only employees with the Fryer responsibility qualification will be able to be assigned to that shift.
Another example would be that you require certain training or certifications before certain duties on a job can be performed. So you could specify that a certain shift requires Cashier Training to be completed. You would set that as a responsibility assigned to the job and then set that on the shift. Then only employees who you have given the Cashier Training responsibility to (meaning they passed that training) will be available for that shift.
To create new job responsibilities, go to Scheduling – New Job Responsibility in the top ribbon. The job responsibility form is very simple since it only has 1 field: Name.

To view the list of existing job responsibilities, go to Scheduling – Job Responsibilities in the left hand navigation pane and double click the row of the responsibility you want to edit.
On the Job form you can add/view/remove responsibilities from that job. On the Employee form you can add/view/remove which responsibilities or qualifications that employee has.
The Shift form on the scheduling screen is where you can assign a specific responsibility to a specific shift (i.e. to work this shift you must be certified in cashier training).
